When a direct-fired speaker or system is required due to site conditions or application need, the Lencore CrosswaysOne™ system provides the highest level of sound quality and adjustability. With its higher quality construction, CrosswaysOne™ offers a commercial grade direct-fired system using higher quality construction and sound quality than competitive systems.

Tunable by hand-held remote and available in small and larger speaker sizes. CrosswaysOne™ offers wider sound dispersion, and better sound uniformity and greater sound quality.

Random sound masking source, coupled with Lencore’s E-Sound™ technology provide capabilities for:

  • Masking Adjustments: 96 in ½ dB steps
  • Contour Adjustments: 29 steps

The Lencore CrosswaysOne™ Direct-Fired Sound Masking System uses plenum rated, UL listed, standard cable and connectors to wire the system and speakers. Phone jack style connectors are integrated into each speaker and Platform enabling the installer to simply "plug in" the connections saving installation time and ensuring a cleaner installation. The typical run for the data wire from Platform to Platform should be 125 feet. The wire runs between floors may be longer. Verify site conditions. The average wire length needed is 12-15 feet per speaker, for speaker to speaker runs (depending upon speaker location) and 25’ from the Platform to the first speaker on a channel.

Wire Specifications:

  • All wire must be plenum rated!
  • Cat 5e, 4 pair, twisted, 24 gauge, stranded – Platform Wire (straight)
  • Cat 5e, 3 pair, twisted, 24 gauge, stranded – Speaker to Speaker Wire (crossover)
  • 16 gauge, 2-conductor stranded – Power Supply to Platform Wire


Connector Specifications:

  • Connectors for data wires are standard RJ45 – 4 pair (8 wires)
  • Connectors for audio wires are standard RJ12 – 3 pair (6 wires)


The CrosswaysOne™ Sound Masking System must provide the following:

  • Direct-fired speaker.
  • All masking/paging units must be UL Listed for air handling space.
  • System must confirm following ANSI standards: ANSI S1.4, ANSI S1.6, and ANSI S1.11.
  • System must meet ASTM 1130-02, ASTM E1573-02, ASTM E 1374-93, and ASTM E 1041-85 standards.
  • The Sound Masking system must use a unique integrated sound masking, music and paging system that uses infrared remote controls.
  • Volume increments for paging and music MUST be in ½ dB steps never to exceed more than 1dB steps as measured 1m from the speaker.
  • The sound masking source must produce 20Hz through 20,000Hz.
  • The masking must be random.
  • The masking volume shall be adjustable via digital means for ½ dB steps for a range of 30-78 dBA as measured 1m from the center of the speaker.
  • Sound masking system must be able to provide muting capabilities.
  • Spatial uniformity of sound must be no more than ±½ dBA.
  • In open areas and larger enclosed spaces, the overall sound level produced should have spatial uniformity of no more than ±½ dB between any two sound generating units.
  • System must provide two sizes of speaker: 3 ½" and 6".
  • 3 ½" speaker housing must be produced from recycled ABS material. 6" speaker housings/enclosures must be damped to avoid undesirable resonance.
  • System shall be designed so that individual speaker or component failure will have no impact on the balance of the system.
  • Generation and integration of multiple random sound masking source and by using E-sound® technology equates to the best sound and effective sound masking.
  • Sound masking equipment must be comprised of at least 50% recycled Aluminum content.
  • A 10 year full warranty from the manufacturer must be provided for all sound masking equipment.
  • The system must be manufactured in the USA.
